this manga was really cute! the art was so pretty and i loved the outfits. i especially loved how haruka also loved making cute masculine outfits too and didn't try to put itsuki into an outfit she wouldn't like :] and the face itsuki made when madoka called her manly!!! CUTE CUTE. augh, and i loved how they made up with mai at the end. kids this age do stupid awful things because they have horrible awful emotional control and i think it's nice that they were able to be friends again at the end. also loved the core message about how anyone can wear any clothes no matter their gender. as a tguy who really loves cute clothes but has a kind of awkward relationship with them it was really nice to read about a boy who loved wearing cute stuff. and itsuki was so real when she was complaining about how everything has to be gendered. augh. just a very cute and sweet series in general i loved it a lot. madoka and itsuki's friendship was very sweet and it was fun to watch it grow. while i definitely don't think trans headcanons for this comic are wrong it was kind of funny to see people online insisting that these characters were basically canonically trans, when that sort of flies in the face of... uh... the whole story. LOL madoka's secret: it's okay to be a girl who likes masculine clothes and hobbies and it's okay to be a boy who likes frilly dresses and cute stuff. it isn't weird if your interests don't align with your gender, just be you! people on the internet: well the boy must actually be a girl because they like cute stuff and the girl must actually be a boy because they like cool stuff. lol i definitely do see the transgender vision for these two, especially itsuki with her whole speech about finding everything being gendered to be annoying, i also don't really think that's what the author was getting at, with how insistant they were with it being okay to be a boy who likes cute stuff and a girl who likes cool stuff. idk. seems weird to insist they must be trans because they don't conform to gender roles. |
