INTRODUCTION
general
type: non-ship
hello! welcome to my ship blog, where i blog about shipping. like many, i believe my first ship was ash and misty from the pokemon anime. i was quite the diehard fan as a child, and was quite put off by the idea of ash dating any of his other female companions. however, i don't know if this really counts, since i did not engage with it in a fandom sense. i just happened to watch tama hero's pokeshipping video from 2015 and the rest is history. what i would consider to be my first "real" ship, would be the pairing between tony stark and steve rogers. my first brush with fandom was actually a dedicated stevetony amino, i have no idea how i came across this as i was quite young at the time, but i did, and now i'm here, writing a blog about which fake people i think should kiss. honestly, both of these amuse me to no end now since i've come to headcanon ash as aroace and have begun to favor stevebucky. stevetony will always have a special place in my heart though since it is in some ways responsible for me meeting my best friend.
in terms of the ships i like, i feel like they can be separated into three categories: devotion, enemies, and best friends. there is usually some overlap. devotion: the key example here is mattmello from death note. i really enjoy relationships where the characters are devoted to each other completely, usually to the point of immorality, or at least ignoring their partners immorality. this type of dynamic is very fun to me. enemies: the key example here is batjokes from DC. i love a good enemies dynamic. i'm fond of both enemies who truly despise each other and enemies who would probably have been friends under different circumstances (batjokes vs akeshu for example). and lastly, the best friends: the key example here is souyo from persona 4. this is very sweet, reddie (IT) was also one of my first ships and it's obvious it had an impact on me. as much as i like ships with toxic elements, sometimes you just want to read about two best friends who love each other dearly. obviously not all of my ships will fall cleanly into these lines, but there are definitely... trends...
as for multishipping, i am a multishipper! i ship most of my favs with multiple other characters (unless i hc them as aromantic, which i do frequently). for example i ship bruce wayne with just about everyone (talia, selina, harvey, edward, joker, etc.), i'm happy to try pretty much anything, so long as it doesn't disagree with me too badly. i'm also a strong believer in SALS, YKINMKATO, and DLDR. when i say i "ship" something that means nothing other than "i am fascinated by the potential for a romantic, sexual or obsessive relationship between these two characters (also including one-sided, i love one-sided ships)" and does not mean that i want them canonized, i think they're healthy, i think they work well together, or i would support it in real life. for example, i ship batjokes, however, i don't want them canonized, they're obviously unhealthy, they make each other so much worse, and if they existed IRL i would want them on opposite sides of the planet.
