Oh man. I love this manga so much. It'll always be "The Troublesome Feelings of the Otaku and Yankee Crossdressers" to me and I don't really like the official english title, so please don't mind if I call it something along those lines. I've been following this manga for years now (granted not since the beginning), and I'm always so delighted when I get to read new chapters. This is basically "misunderstandings: the manga" so I see why it wouldn't be for everyone, but I find those misunderstandings amusing and cute most of the time, and I think they facilitate the growth of the relationship between Hana and Shuumei as well as Shuumei and Hanae very well, whereas without the misunderstandings we wouldn't get to see as much of those developments... I also find that this manga isn't afraid to take its time, and that that is a great strength in the writing. We get to see the developments of characters other than Hana or Mei, such as with Jun and Shizuku, while still seeing how these dynamics impact the main two. Otaku and Yankee Crossdressers is honestly my all time favorite comfort manga. I re-read it again and again any time I need a pick-me-up. It's so sweet and charming and funny and cute and the relationships are so heartwarming and enjoyable to watch develop. I have so much fun reading this manga no matter how many times I've already done so and I can always count on it to cheer me up :] |
