Selina Kyle
Welcome to my Catwoman shrine, all about Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Selina was introduced in the Batman (1940) #1 story "Batman and Robin". Selina has had many different backstories and family histories over the years as authors try new things with her character, so I will refrain from giving a detailed explanation for now. Most consistantly, Selina is a woman from Gotham who grew up impoverished and was eventually orphaned and seperated from her sister Maggie. At some point she turns to theft to support herself, eventually donning the mantle of Catwoman. While Selina originally begins stealing because she has few other options in terms of income, she eventually gains an appreciation and love for the art of it.
Gotham City Sirens: Unfit for Orbit
Oh man. So I did not like this mini LOL! You can see my slow downfall with this series on my LOCG (#1, #3, and #5) but really there isn't much to say... It just wasn't very good unfortunately. I'm a big fan of GCS 2009, it's one of my favorite comics, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard about the 2024 GCS mini... anddd I didn't like it LOL, I thought it was pretty bad actually, but then! Light shining at the end of the tunnel, I saw the solicit for another GCS mini... And... It's being written by Leah Williams. Again. Just like the 2024 series. Oh the disappointment I felt! But augh. I tried my very best to keep an open mind, it'd been a year and perhaps Williams had improved her writing in that time! And honestly maybe she has, who knows, maybe she just stumbles writing these three characters and her other writing is fantastic, I wouldn't know. This is not meant to be a dismisal of all of her writing ever, it could be very good for all I know. But uh. I got off track again. This mini! I really didn't like it. The costumes aren't very appealing, Selina looks like she's twenty for some reason, the humor is bland, and the action was uninteresting. It felt like nothing ever happened! After every issue I would have to stop and be like "okay what actually happened" after each one, because they all felt so empty. The plot wasn't interesting and there was no good action or character moments to back it up. In fact I'd go as far as to say that you could replace Ivy, Selina, and Harley with any other trio and the story would remain entirely the same, because these are practically cardboard cutouts with the girls's faces painted on for as much personality as they show here. I really hope this doesn't become a yearly occurrence, I'd much rather they just stick with the three solos instead (which... Hopefully we still have solos for all three of these characters come next summer T_T).

Catwoman: When in Rome
Finally got around to reading this one recently. I liked it a lot :] I thought it was fun and stylish and Selina was really charming here. I don't think it's like the best Selina story of all time or anything, but I liked the things it had to say about her relationship with Bruce and I'm always a fan of Selina stories that pull in crime families. Eddie was a wonderful addition, he was fun and he bounced off Selina really well. One of my first comics ever was actually Batman: Killing Time, which is another Catwoman + Riddler team-up. They're a fun duo and I like seeing them together. Eddie's design was really cute in this book too :] OH the one thing I would say is I found the mystery lackluster. It didn't really take away from the experience much or anything, but considering each issue has "A Catwoman murder mystery" on the front cover it was a little disappointing.
